Terms of booking

These terms apply when you book an Arena seat, a squad, a Teams session or a gift voucher with Chap Live. The Lagos venue is run by our Nigerian company and the London venue by our UK company; the company you contract with is the one that runs the venue you book. [Company names, registration numbers and registered addresses to be confirmed by counsel.]

Everyone on set must be 18 or over. The booker confirms this for every player when booking and gives their own date of birth; we keep only the year.

We check ID at the door for anyone who looks under 25. We look at it and do not keep a copy. Anyone under 18 cannot play, and the booking is then treated as a cancellation less than 72 hours before.

Every session is filmed. Arena sessions are filmed for broadcast and publication: clips and episodes may appear on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, this website, and the channels of our partners, and may be used to promote Chap Live. Teams sessions are published only as the next section says.

Each player signs a participant release at the venue before playing. One person cannot consent for another’s likeness, so the booker confirms that every player will sign their own. A player who will not sign cannot play.

Spoken answers are not separately recorded, transcribed or sent anywhere. A player’s name pronunciation recording is for the host’s ear only and is never published.

Prices are shown in the venue’s currency with VAT included. Nothing is added at checkout.

  • Lagos bookings are paid in naira through Paystack.
  • London bookings are paid in pounds sterling through Stripe.
  • A booking is confirmed only when the payment provider tells us the money has been received.

Your seats are held while you pay. If the hold runs out before payment arrives, the seats return to sale. A late Lagos payment is honoured if seats remain and refunded in full if not.

One promo code can be used per booking. Gift vouchers can pay for part or all of a booking at a venue in the country they were bought for.

A Teams session is booked as Private or Featured. Both are filmed in full. The package prices shown are Featured prices; Private costs more.

Chap Live never publishes a Private session, in whole or in part.

A Featured session may be published by Chap Live as a case study: the episode, clips and stills, on our channels and in our marketing, with the company’s name and logo.

Choosing a tier is the company’s choice about the episode, not any person’s consent to appear. Nothing in this booking makes appearing in published material a condition of playing. Each player is asked separately, on the registration tablet at the venue, whether they agree to appear in anything we publish, and we publish only material showing players who agreed.

“Match me” books seats in a shared public session; other players fill the remaining seats. A squad books every seat of a session, and the session is then closed to others. A squad can only take a session with no seats sold.

A seat is one place at the table and plays as one. Its price includes up to 2 people; each extra person pays the extra-person fee shown at booking, and a seat holds 4 people at most. Every booking has at least one person a seat.

Session times are local to the venue and shown with its time zone. Every cut-off in these terms is measured in the venue’s local time: “72 hours before” means the same local time 3 days earlier.

Arrive 15 minutes before your session to sign in and have your photo taken. Players who arrive after the session has started may not be able to play.

What you pay is a deposit that secures your place. It is credited against your session when you arrive, and forfeited only if you do not come.

At any time before your session you can cancel for a Chap Live credit voucher worth the full amount you paid, valid for 12 months.

  • More than 7 days before the session: a full cash refund.
  • Between 7 days and 72 hours before: a 50% cash refund.
  • Less than 72 hours before: no cash refund, but you can still take the credit voucher, and you can send someone in your place.

If nobody comes for a seat, its deposit is forfeited, and so is the fee for each extra person booked who does not come.

If you cannot come because of a death or a hospitalisation, there is no charge: you get a full refund or a free move, whenever you tell us. Write to our inbox with your booking reference. We do not keep medical documents or details.

Our refund policy sets out the same terms in full, with moves and what happens if a session is under-filled or we cancel it. It forms part of these terms.

A booked session is a leisure service on a fixed date, so in the UK the 14-day cancellation right does not apply to it; our refund policy applies instead. Gift vouchers with no date can be cancelled within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.

Be kind to other players, the host and our crew. We may remove anyone whose behaviour is abusive or unsafe, without a refund, and we may cut any segment from what we publish.

A gift voucher is bought for one country’s venues, carries a balance in that country’s currency, and lasts 12 months from purchase. The expiry date is shown on the voucher. Unused balance is not exchanged for cash.

Tell us first, at the inbox below, and we will reply within 30 days. Bookings at the Lagos venue are governed by the laws of Nigeria; bookings at the London venue by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.
